Started this when it was winter in Canada... If I'd waited a bit longer to finish it would've been winter in New Zealand

if you look closely you can see the pointless snowflake pattern in the alpha

used this as an excuse to study ghislain girardot's spline sampling breakdown

i made this snowflake generator but didn't end up using them as the 2d-ness didn't work well with the use cases I'd hoped for

spikes on the body were generated in houdini and placed by hand, the same ones used as mesh particles later

scaling down > remeshing > scaling back up gives long polygon facets
